Indian Chai

Of course you don’t have to give up chai! India’s favourite beverage, the country’s productivity is hinged on regular access to “Kati Chai”.  The beverage is always had piping hot across the year. On a plant-based diet, you can just replace dairy with dairy-free milk. The chai will taste different, but the difference is hardly noticeable.  And if you use almond or cashew milk, the flavour of tea is awesome.

Ingredients

  • 2.5 cup Fresh Waters
  • tsp. Black Tea Leaves
  • 2 Cardamom Pods Cracked
  • Clove Whole
  • 1/2 Inch Ginger Sliced
  • 1/2 Inch Cinnamon Stick
  • 1/4 cup Fennel Seeds Crushed
  • 2 Peppercorns Crushed
  • 2-6 tbsp. Plant-Based Milks Any
  • 1-4 Kakvi or Molasses or Jaggery Syrup Or any sweetener To Taste

Instructions

  1. 1) In a saucepan, add water, lea leaves or tea bags, cardamom, cloves, peppercorns, cinnamon, ginger, fennel seeds and bring it to a boil. 2) Reduce the heat to medium and let it simmer for 3-6 minutes. The longer it boils, the stronger the chai. 3) Add the cashew milk and turn off the heat.Strain it in a cup and stir in the sweetener.The spicy masala chai is ready. This rich, creamy and tasty milk is sure to make you forget dairy-milk chai! Enjoy with your favourite khakharas or cookies.
