“Do we need oil?” was the core question that was asked at the demo-workshop.

 On popular demand, Dr Rupa Shah, the leading vegan advocate and holistic healer organized the first oil-free workshop in Andheri West on 27 May 2014. After a comprehensive orientation about the importance of oil-free meals, she emphasized on the common misnomers promoted by oil companies to mislead consumers.

Supported by vegan, Charul Shah and expert chef, Parul Shah, Dr Rupa Shah provided a detailed 3-hour demo-workshop illustrating simple, yet effective cooking techniques that did away with traditional methodologies that incorporated oil. “We don’t need oil”, she stressed repeatedly. “These are simple techniques to help make your appliances non-stick, and even simpler substitutes to do the same.”

The workshop enabled an eager audience to enjoy a demo of a wide spread of mouth-watering dishes like vegetable kolapuri, French-beans poriyal, stuffed bhindi, onion bhajias, appam dal vadas, assorted dips and chocolate brownies.

The demo included an interactive Q&A session with the participants that were followed by a tasting session of the oil-free spread that convinced the audience that oil-free food was not only doable, but easy to achieve as well.
